The camping market is changing rapidly.
With the growth in the number of campervans being sold, demand is also rising for camping products.
For instance, the sale of bush camping products has doubled since the early 1990s, while camping gear such as camping chairs and mattresses has grown by around 300 per cent.
The trend is similar for caravan camping.
“There is a growing appetite for bush camping gear and it’s driving demand for camping equipment,” says Tim Williams, senior marketing manager at the Australian Ranges and Range Safety Association.
The RV industry’s share of the market fell from 10 per cent in 2012-13 to 7 per cent last year.
Some experts have argued that bush camping equipment has been a key part of the RV industry for years.
But it is the rise of caravan camping that is changing the way the industry is sold.
“We’re seeing a lot of RV manufacturers changing their approach to the market,” says Williams.
“In the past, the RV market was very focused on the larger scale of RV travel and it was a niche market.
Now, it’s become more focused on larger-scale camping and the RV is now more about that.”
A range of products and brands are now available on the market, ranging from camping tents and camp chairs to backpacking tents and mobile cabins.
They range from low-maintenance to the best in the market.
One of the most popular brands is KwikCamp, which offers a range of tents for sale.
“Camping is an integral part of a lot to the bush camping market,” Williams says.
“When you go to camp, you can be outside or inside the RV.
It’s also the perfect place to go for a picnic or a swim.
It is great for people to go camping in the bush or on a camping trip and it also provides some very good privacy for those who are out camping.”
Another popular brand is Kiva, which is a company that offers tents and backpacking equipment for sale on the internet.
“People are looking for a camping option in a range that is also affordable,” Williams adds.
“A lot of people want to go to the beach, which they can do in a RV or a campervan, and so we’re seeing the popularity of campering.
The camping industry is very diverse, and it doesn’t necessarily fit into one category.”
One of Australia’s biggest RV brands is a new one, RV World.
It has expanded into camping equipment for both RV travellers and RV campsites.
The company’s website features listings for campers from across the country.
“For a long time, the industry has been looking for new ways to appeal to the broadest possible audience,” says David Sperling, head of product marketing at RV World Australia.
“Our strategy has been to develop products that are very well designed, designed to be very well priced and we’ve found a lot that people want.”
RV World’s campers range from $4,900 to $8,000 depending on the product.
“The price is not always the same for each camper but it is a good value,” Sperlings says.
The new RV World campers are priced between $2,900 and $5,500.
“It’s really about the design and quality and the ability to offer people a choice of camping equipment.
The product also offers the convenience of camping in a small vehicle, which means you can enjoy the benefits of being out camping with your family,” he adds.
There is a range in the $2 million to $5 million range for the most upmarket RV camping products available.
“Some of the brands that we sell on our website are really expensive, but we are making sure that they are as low as possible,” says Sperlings.
“That’s because we want people to be able to go out camping in their vehicles.
We’re not looking for camping gear that is too expensive.
It should be low in price to allow people to take the time to camp.”
