Raystown Lake Campground in southern Ontario, the former site of a restaurant, is to be turned into a smokehouse and barbecue restaurant, the Ontario Tourism Corporation announced Thursday.
The Ontario Tourism Corp. has leased space at the Raystown lake site on the shores of Lake Ontario, on the western shore of Lake Superior, to a company called Camp Chef Smokehouse and BBQ, which operates in New York City.
The company said in a news release that the land will be used for a restaurant and barbecue operation.
The lease agreement will be in the form of a one-year agreement.
The Ontario Tourism Board will be reviewing the lease agreement, said Mike Meehan, a spokesman for the tourism board.
The restaurant and BBQ site, which was sold to the Ontario Parks and Recreation Department in April, will include a smoker and grill.
The provincial government has been in talks with the Rayesville Lake campground’s owner about turning the land into a barbecue joint, the OTC said in the release.
