The National Park Service has put out an emergency order for camping lanterns, telling people to keep them close to home in case of power outages or if they’re not in a safe spot to set them up.
The National Parks Service has said that, due to the snowfall in Northern California, the agency had to temporarily put out a call for emergency lanterns.
A spokesperson told the AP that the order would remain in place through Sunday at midnight.
The National Park System says it will provide lanterns to anyone who needs them, and that anyone who has been ordered to take them home will have them delivered to them by next Monday.
This post has been updated to clarify that lanterns will be distributed in order to be distributed by next week, not immediately.
